Salary	26,000 per annum + N.I. £5,092.20
Hours	35 hours per week

Duties

• To advertise/promote your fifteen groups a week; leaving care group, mothers and babies group, under 12's group, black and in care group, survivors of abuse group, physically challenged group, counselling group, art therapy group, job club group, developing children's rights group, drug counselling group, social work training group, developing local policy on child care group and adventure group, to organize activities such as rock climbing, sailing, camping etc.
• To ensure attendance is always high in numbers.
• To set up support networks for individuals from the groups to be referred to such as careers advice, learn direct, psychotherapy, housing specialists, solicitors, health centers and to connexions, the new government initative.
• Work with the management and other staff to identify issues which could be of national concern
• Write a monthly work report.
• Help to recruit and interview other group co-ordinator's / counsellors, to all other local groups from time to time.
• Work with your personal volunteer on a one to one basis and train them to assist you.

Skills

Communication skills, including where possible counselling skills. Knowledge of the issues, young people, especially in care, face. Good networking skills with other agencies. Good written, verbal and computer skills.

Person's Specifications

Experience

(1) Having been in care
(2) Communicating with young people at all levels
(3) Group work skills. Preferably advice or counselling skills

Knowledge

(1) Good Knowledge of the issues faced by young people in care
(2) Some knowledge of the Children Act 1989 the Children Act 2004 and the criminal justice act 1992

Skills

(1) Must be able to work in large or small groups
(2) Must be able to set up support networks, for individuals in the groups
(3) Must be able to keep the group interesting for young people
(4) Must be able to make reports have written and verbal skills, including ms word on computer

Circumstances

(1) Must be able to give commitment of carrying out the work of the organization alongside others
(2) Must be willing to learn new skills
(3) Must act professionally at all times, when dealing with New Naypic / Youth Parliament's business.
